The CMC is proud to announce a major grant by the Phyllis C. Wattis Foundation in the amount of $40,000 to support a final round with orchestra at this year's Irving M. Klein String Competition. Formed in 2002 upon her passing, the Phyllis C. Wattis Foundation's mission is to help the Bay Area arts community become - in her words - "four stars, worth the detour." Ms. Wattis was a lifelong supporter of the arts, and generously supported many organizations in the Bay Area. The Foundation now supports both the fine arts - including the exhibition of painting and sculpture, and the performing arts - including opera, symphony and dance, in the cities of San Francisco, Berkeley and Oakland. We are grateful for their support!
